The Problem: The Meter Is Where the Extension Goes

Renovations regularly collide with the meter box: the wall it sits on is being demolished, the new garage swallows it, or a facade upgrade wants it gone from the front of the house. Builders can’t touch it, and leaving it until frames are up turns a routine job into a schedule-breaking emergency.

A meter relocation involves the service connection and metering — network-side work that neither your builder nor a general electrician is authorised to perform.

The Solution: Book the Relocation Into the Build Program

A relocation moves the meter box, re-runs the consumer mains to the new position and re-terminates the service — with the network notified and the metering re-registered. As a Level 2 ASP on all three Sydney networks, we do the whole scope, including any switchboard work the new position needs.

The key is timing: involve us at the planning stage and the relocation slots neatly between demolition and framing, often paired with a switchboard upgrade since the board is being rebuilt anyway.

Network rules require safe, unobstructed access for reading and maintenance — generally on an external wall near the point of supply. We confirm a compliant position as part of the quote.

Will the power be off during the relocation?

Yes, for the duration of the changeover — typically part of one day. We coordinate the outage window with your builder so other trades can plan around it.
