The Problem: Not Knowing What You’re In For

People delay meter upgrades over practical unknowns: How long will the power be off? Will the fridge be alright? Do I need to be home? Will they need to get inside? Uncertainty — more than the work itself — is what keeps old meters on the wall.

And when expectations aren’t set, small things derail the day: a locked meter box, a dog in the yard, a car parked over the access, or a board issue nobody flagged.

The Solution: A Predictable, Well-Communicated Process

A standard exchange runs like this: we confirm access and any site issues before the day; on arrival we notify you, isolate the supply, remove the old meter, fit and wire the smart meter, then restore power and test. For a straightforward swap the outage is brief — generally short enough that fridges and freezers are unaffected if kept closed.

You generally don’t need to be home if the meter box is accessible and safe, though we’ll always confirm arrangements with you first. If your board needs rectification, we tell you before the day, not during it.

The Result: Power Back On, Paperwork Done

By the time we leave, the meter is installed, tested and registered with the network and your retailer — and the interval data starts flowing so estimated reads are finished for good.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Do I need to turn anything off beforehand?

No special preparation is needed — we isolate the supply safely. Shutting down sensitive computers gracefully before the outage window is a sensible precaution.

What if the installer finds a problem with my board?

We assess boards before work starts. If a defect makes the exchange unsafe, we explain the issue and quote the rectification — and because we do that work ourselves, it doesn’t mean starting a new process with another company.
