The Problem: A Meter That Only Counts One Number
Accumulation meters — the old spinning-disc or basic digital units — record total consumption and nothing else. They need a manual read, which means estimated bills between reads, no visibility of when you use power, and no support for solar exports or time-of-use pricing.
They also block upgrades. If you add solar, a battery or off-peak hot water, an accumulation meter simply can’t measure what those systems do.
